“Cry Baby is the climax of melodrama.”
The latest offering from JYT – Cry Baby – is a minimalist tropical jam packed with melodrama and some rare crooning from the man himself.
“It’s the climax of melodrama. It’s this very vivid snapshot of a sweaty dancefloor, Robyn is playing, there’s purple and blue lights flashing, and you break up with your partner right there.”
The song was written just after Get Naked and incidentally laid the groundwork for later works.
“It’s just a very different sound, I think, and I like that it’s different. The sparse soundscape leaves more room for imagination and interpretation.”
Cry Baby is out now.
